Welcome to the next installment of our Begin to Knit series: Knitting in the Round with Circular Needles!

Join Maureen for this two-session class, which will teach you the basics needed for knitting in the round. Students will create their very own, one-of-a-kind Cowgirl Caterpillar Convertible Cowl.

In the first session, students will learn to join in the round and how to use a stitch marker. Next, you will learn how to make a ribbed cuff using the knit stitch and purl stitch and how to add “caterpillar” design elements with hand-dyed yarns.

In the second session, students will learn two new stitches: the yarn over and knit two together; to create an eyelet row. You will finish this class by binding off your knit and purl stitches in the round and create a braided drawstring to complete this project.

Prerequisites: Participants need to know how to cast-on using the long-tailed cast on method, knit, and purl stitches -- Everything taught in the Begin to Knit 101 class.

Homework: Students should come prepared to the first class with 97 stitches cast on their circular needles (you don't want to be too tight!  use a similar sized or smaller straight needle to cast on using two needles--see videos below!). To review how to cast on using the long-tail cast on method and some tips for casting on in the round, check out these two videos showing you how to get started with this project!

For the second class, students should come with the body of their convertible completed (9”).

Cost: $65; Class supplies are discounted 10%.
